Should you sign a contract with a buyers agent before looking at real estate?

Saturday, August 5, 2023

It is recommended to sign a contract with a buyer's agent before looking at real estate for a few reasons. Firstly, a buyer's agent represents your interests as a buyer and can provide valuable guidance throughout the home-buying process. They have access to a wide range of resources and can help you find suitable properties based on your preferences and budget. Additionally, signing a contract with a buyer's agent establishes a professional relationship and ensures that they are legally bound to work in your best interest. This can help protect you from potential conflicts of interest and ensure that you receive the best possible representation during negotiations and transactions.

A Buyer's agent will represent you in your home buying process. They will search listings for you, make appointments, conduct research, and walk you through the entire process of buying a home. Buyer’s agents also have current real estate listings and sales data to help you avoid overspending.

In Connecticut, the law requires that a written buyer agency agreement be entered into before the licensee can physically show you a property or ask you to disclose confidential information, such as your financial status. You may enter into an agreement for simply on home, one day, one week, or longer. All terms are negotiable.
